    Lipo v. nimh

I'm building a new FE DF22, with an x-power 100a and Feigao 540L. I was planning on using lipos, but I can see you can get just as good output from nimhs, and lipos are really expensive if you still need the chargers. The point is: what are the advantages of lipo?

Not sure you mean by "just as good output", but here are the advantages of lipo:

    1) lighter weight for a given capacity.
    2) far better discharge rate - you can pull more amps with less heat build up
2A) Maintains voltage better under load - flatter discharge curve
    3) Generally much longer service life when charged/maintained correctly.

    Disadvantages

    1) Cost more
    2) Requires special charger (cannot use NiCad/NiMH charger)

I buy my lipos and chargers from Pat at RC Lipos

Bill is right but don't forget the discharge curve is much flatter with Lipo. The power stays consistent through the run and doesn't get soft after a couple minutes like Nimh does.

Also, lipos maintain there voltage better when under load.

NiMH's still work fine for sport running, just keep the IB/EP packs under 100 amps and make sure they have heavy connecting bars. Brands that use the thin connecting tabs, keep under 50 amps.
