Is this Steve from North of the border in Canada?
Great to see you on the forums!
What size prop are you running?
Take care!

I have the same exact hull, including color. Been meaning to put it together but somehow I keep getting side tracked. I planned on a 10L, 100A ESC, Stinger strut, adjustable trim tabs, x637 prop, carbon fiber turn fins, and two 7.4v lipos in series. Yours looks like it is running great so now I might have to rethink my setup. Good Job!Government Moto:

Yes Scotty - It is I - Steve from North of Ottawa (Canada's Capital) - I have been lurking on these FE Boat forums for a while doing homework on the mono build. It currently has a 37.5 mm prop (Graupner) and I am going to try a 39 mm K series Graupner next - The thing is - The boat right now is plenty fast for me to have a blast with and get familiar with it. My Max-amp batteries are working great and I have had many runs over the last 2 weeks - so I am sort of content as we head towards the winter - Also - the temps are so low - just warm a bit on everything and the wire drive works like a charm - Just a little dust in the bottom of the boat!Comment

Oh Yeah Dom - I am delighted with the handling of this boat compared to the "Dolphin" hull I had souped up with a Brushless setup. I plowed right into the neighbours raft with that one! I hit a bit of debris in the bay at speed and this boat boat flipped - Near tore off the tape on the hatch. A wee ding in the rudder tapped out and polished up nicely. Super little boat took a beating and works great! Cool as a cucumber with this set-up and dry as a bone and I can't see a lot of maintenance with the prop shaft set-up like this. I wish I had better pix of the wire drive Dee sent me from Etti (on Ebay). $25 and worth it.Comment

Steve
Looks like you're setup without trim tabs and turn fins, and the boat looks like it handles well in turns. Can you confirm this? I have seen/read that this type of hull requires at least a turn fin and some trim tabs. Thanks,

No fins. tabs or strut - The wire drive came complete with tube - Just make sure you get the motor at the lowest possible position so you get a good angle for the tube. This is just for sport so I may have gotten lucky at the angle - perhaps (definately) an adjustable strut would be better for fine tuning for speed. I have done a lot of homework and have found that these hulls have been done by others like this very successfully (no fins or tabs) or perhaps 1 turn fin for the direction of the race. I have posted better pictures and recieved comments from others in this FE Boat forum http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7950194/tm.htm - A lot has been said there regarding that hull.Comment

as far as trim tabs and turn fins up to 40mph and not in race water probably not. over 40mph or race water yes. just my 2c scottComment

I'm not quite sure what you are saying Ozzie-crawl - but like I said - I am new to this hobby and not into racing. I just wanted to build a boat that looked lean and is fast for sport. Any advise to get a bit more speed out of it - I don't think putting trim tabs and turn fins will help much at all. I shall try a 1 mm larger prop this week and report back.Comment

from running mine and seeing others i have found that if you run it abit wet it will run very nice and stable but you will loose a bit of speed. if you want it to run on the ride pad(if you look at the last part of the v there is a small flat spot) so its out of the water running fast it needs trim tabs to hold it there other wise it becomes abit unstable. if running on dead flat water you will get away with no trim tabs. what size prop are you running? . i run a ammo2300 on 4s with a x640 prop runs around 45mph. if you want to try a diffrent prop try the 3 blade sv27 or the copper one done by grim scottComment

OK - Now I get it - Yes - I can see you are right too - I never had an argument with trim tabs - I sure can see their use at higher speeds. It's graupne 37.5 MM prop now - Thanks for the good advice.Comment

hello, i was reading your advice on the 25" mono. i am running a similar set up (ammo 2300 and 440-442 prop) and having problems with heat. i keep blowing the connections off the deans plugs. what ESC are you using? my motor and esc temps are relitively low (130) but the wires are cooking. i am using the super-v esc and 4s2p 5000mah. any advice? thanks

iam just running a 45 amp blackjack esc. check your soldering is okay with a x440 prop you shouldnt be pulling more than 45 amps max. just make sure when you are running the boat try and keep your speed up as on of again on the throttle will heat things up.i notice you are running 4s2p do you have a picture of your wire set upComment

ozzy crawl - i might have mislead you, i am using 2s2p (4 cells total) in this boat. i do use use 4s2p (2x2200 4 cell) that is assembled in 1 pack in a similar size boat and it works well. when i ran the prince 25 with the 380 that is the pack i was using, i had it installed on the wood pad where the esc/rec now sit and had to trim it out to get the correct ride angle.
today i installed the U-1 ESC from steven and i am going to try again (didnt burn out the sv esc, just putting it in a different boat). i think part of my problem was running super wet in rough water and too long of runs (aroung 4 minuter). i appreciate all the advice and will keep you posted on how it goes today.see my fleet: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...hp?albumid=294
